The England football teams 6:1 victory over world cup minnows Panama has ignited the passions of English citizens across the country.
This world cup was meant to be a damp squib of an event for fans of England most of us who have become used to disappointment and under achievement. Few held little hope for the current squad who have been tested little prior to the tournament in an easy qualifying group, especially as we field the youngest of any team in the world cup.
However the early successes of the England Team under the management of Gareth Southgate have restored our confidence and instilled some English pride back into our local diverse communities who are all getting behind the national team.
As English flags proliferate around our business, homes and vehicles we thought we would get local people even more opportunity to bask in the success of the nationla squad and so we will be theming our event this week in Ilford town centre, around the English team and their success. We are inviting people to have free English flags painted on their faces during Thursday 28th June by joining our stalls outside Ilford Town Hall.
A recent article in the Ilford Recorder suggested some local people were offended by English flgs being adorned on local businesses (click here) and (here). So here is a chance for Ilford Residenst to wear their hearts on their sleeves and their flags on their faces as we rally together a country as our boys take on the worlds best at a game that arguably was initiated in England.
Our Event runs from 25th – 30th June and will include a bouncy castle, free artworkshops and other activities for children and much more during Redbridge Community Fayre.
