Range Rover falls apart within first three years of purchase

A local Chigwell business man is warning drivers not to buy modern Range Rovers after the high-end vehicle he purchased has started to fall to pieces, he said.

Wilson Chowdhry is the owner of a 2016-plate Range Rover Evogue which is falling to pieces before him and regular trips to Woodford-based Grange Motors Dealership who sell these cars, under his current service-plan and warranty had done nothing to quell the rapid decline of his vehicle.

Mr Chowdhry, a parent of three daughters, was shocked after he was told that a piece of dropped chewing gum by a child had invalidated his warranty for his Range Rover by Grange Motors in Woodford.

The dropped gum fell into the cup holder section of the car and resulted in remarkably severe damage to the car.

He said: “I have seen Tonka cars that are made of sturdier materials.

“I feel disgraced and embarrassed for paying so much money for a worthless car.

“I am extremely disappointed with my purchase. When you buy a high-end car, you expect a better level of quality and robustness.

“That  the acidental application of a childs chewing gum, is not covered by the warranty is a real insult. Do they design such large family cars for single adults or families?

“The fact that a piece of chewing gum can cause such destruction is proof that these cars are not childproof.”

Mr Chowdhry said staff at Grange Motors in Woodford laughed at him when he took in his car.

He said: “I was ridiculed by staff who laughed at me as they photographed the chewing gum. They seemed to think it was bizarre that a piece of chewing gum could cause such damage too, but were grinning as they told me that the cost of repair would be £53 despite an existing warranty.”

“The sheer unprofessionalism of the group has caused me no end of chagrin.”

He added that the car is experiencing sporadic power loss, gear issues, regular loosening of rubber around the doors, temporary loss of movement in rear seats and the driver seat, and an unsecure power socket.  What’s more all of these have been flagged up in the first 3 years of the lifespan of the vehicle – during a period of warranty that should cover it’s optimum productive period.

He said: “All the other issues with the car only serve to destroy what little confidence I have in this abysmal vehicular product.  What worries me most is that after my warranty expires the weaknesses in the design of this car are going to burn a whole in my pocket.

“I think Range Rover intentionally design faults and shoddiness into the production line as a basis for vehicle repair extortion!

“I would never recommend such a brittle vehicle to anyone. These gas guzzlers cause other issues such as increased congestion charge and parking charges in some boroughs.

“Next time I will be buying a much more practical and sleek car, like a Tesla.”

Describing the dangers of the vehicle, he added:

“Several times on the motorway the car has lost power and simply will not cross 35 miles an hour however much you press the accelerator to the floor.

“The revolutions of the cam hit a dangerous 7000 figure, so the only option is to stop on the hard shoulder and re-ignite the engine which most times resets the vehicle – or you can push through at the slow speed and a few miles later the impetus returns – neither is a safe option.

“Worse still when driving the car has a habit of losing connection with the automatic gears, forcing a switch off and reset.

“Is this really the technology that we pay tens of thousands for?”

Mr Chowdhry, has prepared some videos in which he highlights only a few of the many concerns with his vehicle:
